Tottenham starlet gets vocal about his difficult time in the previous campaign

published :

Tottenham Hotspur have a plethora of young players in their ranks, and Daniel Levy has to ensure that he looks over the development of each one of them as the club prepares to feed their first team of the high-potential young players already at their disposal. One such player is Alejo Veliz.

It is easy to forget about the difficult spell that he endured with Sevilla in the second half of last season after he made his way to the Spanish top tier on loan in the winter window. He was overlooked for most of his time in Andalusia.

To put things into perspective, the 20-year-old has already aggregated more minutes under his belt this season with Espanyol than he did during his spell at Sevilla.

Alejo Veliz has reciprocated the trust that Espanyol has shown in him by making a decisive contribution this weekend. The former Rosaria Central ace produced a brilliant finish on the half-turn to hand his current employers a win against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday. His winner came essentially in what was the final kick of the game.

The Lilywhites loanee got quite emotional when he spoke in his post-game interview. He spoke about the difficulties that he had endured in the past years and went on to thank the ones who stood by him in the difficult times.

Speaking in an exclusive interview via. Futbol en Movistar Plus+, Veliz said:

“I had a year that honestly wasn’t great for me footballistically. I just want to thank my family, my girlfriend, who always supported me,

the coaching staff for giving me the chance to come here and prove myself, and my teammates.”

Veliz is only twenty, and he still has a lot left in him. The difficult times will definitely make him stronger mentally when he is finally ready to represent Tottenham in the coming years.
