Tottenham winger Dejan Kulusevski happy for teammate Lucas Bergvall as he earns Sweden call-up

Tottenham Hotspur fell to a frustrating 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, as Alexander Isak’s 78th-minute winner completed a smash-and-grab win for Eddie Howe’s side.

Spurs controlled the game for large parts, created chances and also levelled matters after the break, but failed to kill the game. This came back to haunt them eventually, leaving Ange Postecoglou and the fans exasperated at the full-time whistle at St James’ Park.

The manner in which Tottenham have played across the opening three league games of the new season should see them sitting on nine points along with Liverpool and Manchester City, not four. Now with the players heading to the international break, Big Ange and his coaching staff will get back to the drawing room and prepare for the North London derby clash.

Lucas Bergvall is among many Spurs players set to travel for the international duty. Now that the teenager has received his call-up to the Swedish national team, his compatriot and Spurs teammate Dejan Kulusevski has expressed his happiness and spoken about his quality.

When it was put out to him that Lucas Bergvall got the call-up to the national team for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures, Kulusevski told Football London:

“Yeah absolutely. He has been fantastic. He has come in and he’s doing really good every day, training hard and learning from the other players. I’m happy for him and I’m happy that I can bring him to the national team with me.”

Tottenham acquired Bergvall’s services in an £8.5m deal, with additional add-ons from Djurgardens at the start of February, beating competition from clubs such as Aston Villa, Wolves and Barcelona. The teenager officially joined the North London club in July, and

he has been impressing his teammates, Big Ange and his coaching staff since linking up in pre-season.
