Ange Postecoglou says Tottenham have already started putting plans in place for the January transfer window
Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a strong summer transfer window, strengthening key areas of the squad with exciting signings.
The Lilywhites acquired the signatures of Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, Wilson Odobert, Dominic Solanke and Min-Hyeok Yang while bringing back Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig. This represents a fine mix of first-team players and young prospects.
However, with the north London side enduring a mixed start to the new Premier League season, the January transfer window could become crucial for reshaping the squad further and subsequently turning their fortunes around.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has revealed that the club are already planning for the January transfer window, with technical director Johan Lange and his recruitment team assessing potential acquisitions. Speaking on the transfer deadline day after Spurs had completed their summer business, Ange Postecoglou was quoted by TEAMtalk:
“You always do [plan ahead to January]. These things are a cycle. A lot of it is flawed because you just don’t know.”
“[Technical director] Johan [Lange] and his team now have already started the process of looking at guys who maybe fit that profile of what we’re looking for and if they’re available in January like Radu was this year and we picked up Lucas last January, then we’ll move on it.
“It’s a constant process and it has to be that way. I’ve never done knee-jerk or a ‘hail Mary’ approach to things. Sometimes it’s necessary, I get that and it works, but I am much more comfortable when things are done through a process.”
Big Ange’s approach when it comes to recruitment is absolutely spot on as it avoids panic buys, knee-jerk reactions and patch-up work to problems in the squad. The Greek-Australian is an experienced man who believes in the process of signing players, which aligns perfectly with how technical director Johan Lange and CEO Daniel Levy operate.
Tottenham have recruited well in the recently concluded summer transfer to bolster the squad that harbours hopes of bringing back Champions League football to the White Hart Lane in 2025. Needless to say, the club has also done a fantastic job by offloading the majority of the deadwood from the squad, barring Sergio Reguilon.

So, our fans must not panic under any circumstances, even if Big Ange’s team has not got the results they thoroughly deserved against Leicester City and Newcastle United. Our gaffer, technical director and their bosses have already started planning for the winter transfer window when the club would certainly strike if players with the required profiles are available in the market.
