Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall has cleared the air with teammate Guglielmo Vicario
Lucas Bergvall has made quite an impact since officially joining Tottenham Hotspur from July 1.
Having signed for Tottenham Hotspur in a £8.5m deal including additional add-ons from Djurgardens at the start of February, the Swedish teenage prodigy is rated extremely highly by Ange Postecoglou, coaching staff and members at the north London club.
The midfielder, after arriving in England from Sweden two months ago, made his unofficial debut for Spurs in a 5-0 friendly win over Scottish Premiership side Hearts in July. He had grabbed an assist in that game while giving a glimpse of his talent, maturity and reading of the game to the onlookers.

Ange Postecoglou certainly has high hopes for Lucas Bergvall, who has already made his first-team debut for Tottenham and has been called up to the national team squad for the upcoming Nations League fixtures. Bergvall has adapted well to life at Spurs, admitting he has taken “very big steps” in the last two months. He has also shed light on what it was like being shouted at by goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario at Leicester City.
The teenager was given an earful by Vicario, who had to make a flying save after the Swedish midfielder gave the ball away on the edge of his own box late on in Spurs’ season opener against Leicester City. Bergvall has since revealed that the Spurs shot-stopper apologised to him for crossing a line.
“Sometimes you do slightly worse things, sometimes you do better things,” Bergvall told Swedish publication Aftonbladet (h/t The Standard) while on international duty.
“We were 1-0 [up] and a fairly comfortable lead. We conceded 1-1 and then that happens [losing the ball].
“All is calm now. We have talked about it. Vicario said that there are hot feelings and things like that that happen.”
Vicario tearing Bergvall apart for his mistake which could have proved costly at Leicester had probably left most of the Spurs fans stunned. That moment of the pitch would have brought contrasting opinions from the fans.
While some would think the experienced goalkeeper crossed a line by going bonkers at the player, there are likely to be others who’d feel it was all fair in a competitive Premier League fixture despite Bergvall only being 18.

Nonetheless, it is great knowing that Vicario has since made an apology to Bergvall, and as among the senior members of the squad, it is a great gesture. Bergvall also has got a taste of Premier League football and now knows any dillydallying on the ball could prove costly.
