Pundit names top-four prediction in the Premier League; leaves Tottenham out

Tottenham Hotspur have been struggling to find their rhythm at the start of a brand new season, a campaign filled with hopes and expectations as Australian gaffer Ange Postecoglou looks to build on his progress at White Hart Lane.

The club did enjoy a good summer transfer window where they not only signed some exemplary faces but also sold a number of surplus at Hotspur Way books. However, the window is all done, and now it is about showcasing the best on the pitch.

Spurs struggling to find form amidst high expectations

While the North Londoners played some great preseason exhibition matches, the players couldn’t replicate the performances without pressure when the stakes were high. This showed in their draw against Leicester City in the kickoff game of the new campaign and against Newcastle United.

While it’s only the start of the season, the campaign is still long, and Ange still has a massive opportunity to make amends; Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand doesn’t believe that the Lilywhites can do so.

The defender was predicting the end-of-season table, and he controversially leaves out Spurs of his top four predictions. Rio thinks his former employers Manchester United will finish in the Champions League qualification places behind Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the player-turned-pundit said:

“With that being said, where would you put us at the end of the season? What are you going for? I went for a top four of Arsenal, City, Liverpool, and then us, United, in that order.”

While Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool are the three best teams in the country and certain qualifiers in the top four, Manchester United have had an equally underwhelming start to their campaign as Tottenham. And with the additions that the Lilywhites have made this summer in Dominic Solanke, Wilson Odobert, Archie Grey, and Lucas Bergvall, the supporters would be hoping that Ange’s side would exceed expectations.

Tottenham will resume club football with an all-important derby as they will host Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal next weekend.
