Tottenham Hotspur have some exciting young talents at Ange Postecoglou’s disposal, and most of them possess a very high potential as they head into the development stages of their career. The chiefs at Hotspur Way have done a massive job of bringing in the required talent along the past year or so, one of them being highly touted Swede maestro Lucas Bregvall.
The 18-year-old has been among the whispers around North London since moving to the English top tier from Djurgården, and more recently he has been likened with Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
Tottenham’s Bregvall impresses former Italian defender
Bergvall has enjoyed a good start to life in England after putting in impressive performances in his initial appearances donning the Spurs badge.
Lucas was part of the Sweden squad for the ongoing international break, and while he has only played for limited minutes this season, Bregvall has managed to impress former Italian defender Marco Palma.
Palma was quizzed about the stars that have managed to catch his eye during the international break in an exclusive interview with Tutto Mercato Web. The Italian defender went on to rave about his abilities on the ball and the gifted’ technique that the 2006-born midfielder possesses.

Palma said:
“Then there is the 2006 Lucas Bergvall, Swedish central attacking midfielder, 187cm, of Tottenham.
“For many the most gifted 2006 in the European panorama, in Sweden, he arrived in the first team at 16 years old. Great ability to play the ball, high-level vision of the game, elegance on the pitch, gifted with excellent technique and enormous versatility.
“In July 2024 he was bought by Tottenham who paid 10 million for him and immediately included him in the first team.
“Senior national team he entered in both matches played by Sweden demonstrating great mastery on the pitch. Reminiscent of Frankie De Jong but more offensive.”
Bergvall is a promising addition to Tottenham’s midfield
The Lilywhites were close to being beaten to Bergvall’s signatures by Spanish giants Barcelona. However, Daniel Levy came through as he forked out €10 million to bring the Swede sensation to White Hart Lane. And while Bergvall is yet to earn a start for the Lilywhites, he has appeared in all the league games, showing Ange’s trust in his abilities.
In comparison with Frenkie, Bergvall is a notch more offensive player than the Dutch midfielder; however, he does share a similar tech on the ball and ability to break through the press with his passing and dribbling.

Beyond N17, Bergvall has also managed to secure a spot in Sweden’s national team after earning his first call-up earlier this year.
