Tottenham Hotspur are building something special under Ange Postecoglou, and they will be desperate to bring silverware to White Hart Lane, and midfielder James Maddison has been discussing the objectives that he and his teammates share to bring trophies back to N17.
Speaking numerically, it’s been 16 years since Tottenham last won a trophy when Ledley King & Co. triumphed Chelsea to win the League Cup in 2008. The Lilywhites have lost two finals since, once in the Champions League in 2019 under Pochettino and in 2021 when Ryan Mason took charge of Spurs in the League Cup.
Spurs midfielder urges teammates to break trophy jinx
This season, Ange Postecoglou has the opportunity to compete for a potential silverware on four fronts with European football back at White Hart Lane in the form of the Europa League. Tottenham would be among the favourites to win UEFA’s second-tier competition, and they are already feeling the pressure to succeed, thanks to the wonderful base that Ange has set during his first season in charge at N17.
And speaking in an exclusive interview with Optus Sport, Spurs midfielder James Maddison was quizzed about which silverware he would like to bring to Hotspur Way, where the England international emphasized competing on all four fronts.

“What trophy would I like to win? I’d like to win all of them. Listen, it’s obviously spoken about a lot in the media here, and it’s kind of a bit of a black mark against Tottenham’s name in terms of silverware. And that’s on us. That’s our duty to try and change the history of recent times and try and get our hands on silverware. It’s not a thing that we should not talk about. The club needs to be winning trophies—a club of this size. With the quality we’ve got, we should be battling it out for trophies.”
Maddison aiming at all ends
Maddison suffers that there are plenty of opportunities for the club to bring silverware back to Tottenham. He added the fact that Spurs are competing on multiple fronts in the ongoing season.

“We’re in a few competitions this year with the Europa League, the Carabao, the FA Cup, and the Premier League. And hopefully, we can have a deep run in one of them, because winning trophies is for sure the best thing about football. When all is said and done, you look back on your career and think about what you’ve won.”
These words would be symphonies in Spurs faithful ears considering how much they have craved for silverware at N17. This brings a sense of hope and confidence in the project that Ange has undertaken.
Tottenham will return to club football when they host an injury-laden Arsenal in a North London derby this weekend, and any result against the Gunners would be signs of progress for the club’s faithful.
