Radu Dragusin has yet to impose himself at Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur have recruited smartly in the last couple of years, laying out their vision of present as well as future success.
In the likes of Micky van de Ven, Destiny Udogie, Pape Sarr, Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Wilson Odobert among some more, the Lilywhites have signed some of the world’s hottest prospects who can not only help smoothen the club’s transition under head coach Ange Postecoglou, but also become world-best in the future.
However, another young talent Spurs recruited in the last few windows has gone a bit under the radar. Radu Dragusin is that player.

Signed in a £25m deal from Genoa in the January transfer window, Radu Dragusin has mostly warmed the benches at the Hotspur Way after playing back-up to first-choice centre-back pairing Cristian Romero and Van de Ven. As a result, he has managed only five starts for Spurs under Ange Postecoglou.
George Becali – owner of FC Steaua Bucuresti— has claimed during an interview with Romanian outlet Fanatik that Radu Dragusin can be sold in the future by Spurs for a big fee.
“Dragusin is a central defender. He can grow. He can sell for €70m-€80m. He’s young, he’s tall, a central defender. You rarely find this,” Becali said in an interview with Fanatik.
Having emerged from the youth ranks at Regal Sport Bucuresti, Becali certainly knows a thing or two about Dragusin. He performed well for Romania at the 2024 European Championships in Germany, catching the eye with his physicality, ground covering and tenacity. The 22-year-old may have not had many chances to showcase his qualities at Spurs, but when he has got, he’s often looked like a very solid defender.
The Bucharest-born talent has, so far, been eased into life in the Premier League. However, in Van de Ven’s injury absence, he was handed a start against Newcastle United at St James’ Park before the international break. While Spurs suffered a 2-1 away loss to Newcastle, Dragusin showed his high potential with a strong display and also got praised by our gaffer post-match.
In reality, if Dragusin’s market value rises to €70m-€80m in the coming years, it would mean that Spurs have done a wonderful job of nurturing his talent. It goes without mentioning that the Lilywhites signed a big defensive talent in January but for his stock to soar, he needs to play a lot more at the club.

With a busy schedule set to follow from the weekend onwards, the Romanian stopper would aim to get more minutes under his belt and prove he’s ready for the hustle and bustle of English football.
