Tottenham desperate to offload Sergio Reguilon amid Fenerbahce links
Tottenham Hotspur had a big summer this time around, but with the transfer window open in a few European countries still, there’s talk of potential exits.
Head coach Ange Postecoglou very much got his wishes fulfilled in the summer transfer window as he managed to reshape his squad as per his own vision and strategy. He succeeded in moving a lot of fringe players on and replacing them with several fresh faces.
Spurs even broke their club transfer record by signing Dominic Solanke in a £65m deal from Bournemouth in August. Overall, it was an extremely satisfactory summer transfer window for the Lilywhites. But their business is not done yet with Sergio Reguilon still at Spurs.
Ange Postecoglou has made his thoughts on Sergio Reguilon very clear since last summer after farming him out on loan to Manchester United and Brentford. He has also left him out of the squad for all three of Spurs’ Premier League games so far this campaign.
Destiny Udogie has cemented a starting spot at left-back at Tottenham and Ben Davies is his reliable deputy, so the Spaniard is surplus to requirements for Big Ange. The 27-year-old has been offered a route out of the Hotspur Way by Fenerbahce, whose boss Jose Mourinho wants to reunite with the left-back in Turkey.

John Wenham, the owner of the famous Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, has urged Tottenham to move on Sergio Reguilon at any cost by striking an agreement with Fenerbahce. He has blasted the left-back, terming him a ‘huge disappointment’ since arriving at our club from Real Madrid in 2020.
“I am absolutely desperate for him to be moved on,” John Wenham exclusively said on Tottenham News.
“He has never really contributed and he is on big wages. Therefore, he has been a huge disappointment.
“Hopefully, someone in Turkey takes him off our hands. Even if it means the club paying 20 or 30 per cent of his wages.
“Just as long as we’re not paying his full £100,000-per-week salary for the next year. He has been a disaster and he needs to go.”
Wenham is spot on with his assessment of Reguilon. The four-cap Spain international arrived at Spurs amid a lot of fanfare from Real Madrid. However, he has been a major disappointment, managing a total of 67 appearances for the Lilywhites throughout his stint thus far. The left-back/left wing-back, who earns £53,000-per-week at the Hotspur Way, is into the final year of his contract (Transfermarkt) and has no future under Big Ange.

Tottenham must try their best to move Reguilon on and trim the wage bill further. As the Turkish transfer window slams shut on September 13, the North Londoners must accelerate their plans to offload the misfit. However, it remains to be seen whether Reguilón would want to move to Turkey.
