Ahead of this season, Spurs had an array of players they wanted to offload.
Most of these players, the Lilywhites managed to get off their wage bill, though there are some notable names that remain at Hotspur Way.
As options for the Spurs outcasts become even more limited, we have a fresh update regarding a player who has been on the fringes ever since pre-season began and has not featured for Spurs once since the season began.
Tottenham want Sergio Reguilón to make Türkiye switch
As reported by Football London, Tottenham have been encouraging Sergio Reguilón to make a move to the Süper Lig before the Turkish transfer market slams shut on September 18.
Türkiye remains the last big haven the outcast players can yet move to in order to revitalise their career, and the Spaniard is in dire need of the same.
Reguilón spent last season on loan at Man United and then Brentford. Earlier this summer, before Spurs departed for their pre-season travails, he was left out of the squad and told to find new employers. An array of clubs have since been linked with him, though no agreement has yet been reached with any of them.
Reguilón moved to North London from Real Madrid four summers ago for £32 million. In that time, he has made just 67 appearances for Spurs across all competitions. His £53k-per-week contract is also in its final year.
The 27-year-old has been adamant about moving to a team playing European football this season. To that end, Fenerbahçe have shown an interest in him this summer. Reguilón is valued by Transfermarkt at €12 million.
Whatever it takes
Both Spurs and Reguilón have little choice going forward.
Reguilón cannot risk being on the bench for one whole season. Even if he feels he’d be taking a step down, he need to consider Victor Osimhen’s example and at least get a move to get some game time.

Spurs, similarly, need to acknowledge the reality that they may not get any transfer fee for Reguilón but could save on paying his last year’s wages by loaning him out, just like they did with Eric Dier for the second half of last season.
