Tottenham worried Arsenal or Manchester City may poach Crystal Palace star Eberech Eze next year
Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a productive summer transfer window, reshaping Ange Postecoglou’s squad with exciting signings. They also did a great job of shifting most of the deadwood and trimming the wage bill.
However, there were a couple of summer transfer targets the North London club missed out on. One of them was Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, who had entered the transfer market as one of the most sought-after commodities. However, he ended up eventually staying at Crystal Palace after no club triggered his release clause, thought to be worth £68m which has now expired.
Since joining Crystal Palace from Queens Park Rangers in the summer of 2020, Eberechi Eze has established himself as one of the most exciting attackers in the Premier League. The England international’s rise in stock and impact for the Eagles in the last two years has been nothing short of sensational.

According to a report from Football Transfers, Eze’s £68m release clause re-activates next summer, though, Tottenham are now worried that either Arsenal or Manchester City have managed to turn the player’s head.
Spurs had come close to prising him away from Selhurst Park in the summer, with chairman Daniel Levy inviting the 26-year-old and his family to April’s North London derby against Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium and even reaching a gentleman’s agreement with the player.
However, the aforementioned report claims the Big Ange-managed club were seemingly then told by the player’s representatives that they have been approached by a few of their Premier League rivals, and subsequently the Eagles ace put his potential move to N17 on the back burner. Instead, Tottenham smashed their transfer record by signing Dominic Solanke in a £65m deal from Bournemouth.
Spurs will undoubtedly face competition from elite clubs when it comes to signing Eze next year. The playmaker has started the 2024/25 campaign well and his stock is expected to soar further. He is also now fully capped by England, who have started preparing their squad for the 2026 World Cup under interim boss Lee Carsley.
Big Ange and his side have to qualify for the Champions League next year in order to have an opportunity to sign Eze, who after spending four seasons with Palace should be dreaming of playing at the highest level and competing in the elite European competition.

While our squad is a bit stocked when it comes to the left-wing department, we cannot afford to miss out on a talent like Eze in the summer of 2025 when his £68m release clause re-activates.
