Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson deactivates Instagram handle
Tottenham Hotspur suffered their second successive defeat in the Premier League as Arsenal compounded their misery with a 1-0 win in the North London Derby on Sunday. Gabriel’s second-half header was the difference between the two sides.
Spurs have won just one of their four Premier League matches so far in the campaign. Ange Postecoglou’s men have picked up three points only against relegation threatened Everton, whereas they were beaten by Newcastle United and drew versus newcomers Leicester City.
One of their worst players all season has been Brennan Johnson, who failed to impress once more and remains without a goal or assist despite starting all of Spurs’ games, playing 281 minutes in the process. Besides the statistical output as well, the 23-year-old was toothless against Arsenal.
According to Mirror, it has emerged that the Welshman has deactivated his Instagram account after losing to the Gunners in order to avoid criticism from the fans. The comments and messages from fans usually hamper a player’s confidence, which seems to be the case with Johnson.
While there is no hiding place for the forward after consistently poor displays, the Tottenham fans will hope that the player disconnecting from social media will help him bounce back and justify the £70,000 per week salary which the club is paying him at a very unproven stage of his career.
It is also vital that Brennan Johnson pulls his socks up in quick time to save his spot in the starting eleven, failing which it will not come as a surprise if Postecoglou decides to test out alternatives who can be more productive in front of goal and offer more overall outptut going forward.

Tottenham have the opportunity to bounce back in no time when they play their EFL Cup clash against Coventry but it remains to be seen whether Brennan Johnson features from the start or if Postecoglou decides to give his fringe players a run in the cup competition.
