Tottenham not thinking about Postecoglou’s sacking
Tottenham Hotspur have suffered successive defeats in the Premier League as they made their worst start to the English top flight in nine years. Arsenal and Newcastle United beat them in recent weeks, while Leicester City also picked up a point in their clash on matchday one.
As such, the Lilywhites have won just once so far in the season in four attempts and that also was against low-lying Everton. Understandably, a few pundits and fans have started to ask questions regarding Ange Postecoglou and if indeed he is under pressure early in the season.
Fabrizio Romano spoke about the situation on The Debrief as he insisted that Tottenham continue to have faith in Postecoglou. The journalist said the below:
“[Is Ange Postecoglou in any danger?] Not at all, zero percent, no, no and no. Absolutely everything is under control at Tottenham, a slow start of course – a disappointing North London derby but at the same time they are not considering any shocking decision for the manager. This project [at Tottenham] is completely, completely involved in the idea, the whole plan, and the whole project is around Postecoglou.”
Tottenham worked closely with Postecoglou during pre-season as well with the 59-year-old playing a crucial part in their transfer strategy, which most notably included Dominic Solanke’s permanent capture from Bournemouth in a lucrative switch.
It comes as no surprise that they are backing the Australian. He remains the right man for the job and has gotten his tactics right for most part of the campaign. It is the attackers who have been inefficient in front of goal, which has led to Tottenham dropping more points than they have won.
After the Arsenal defeat, Postecoglou remained bullish at his chances of winning a trophy this season as he cited history from earlier tenures in his career wherein he managed to clinch silverware in his second season.
