Inter Milan express interest in taking 27-year-old back to Serie A next summer

Guglielmo Vicario has been one of the bright outcomes of the summer transfer window from the previous season, as the Italian has not only breed clam into the defence but also ensured that Hugo Lloris’ absence is not felt.

The Italian international has established himself as one of the better goalkeepers in the English top tier following his move to the North Londoners from Italian side Empoli. Spurs signed the 27-year-old in a £17 million deal, and the decision by Ange Postecoglou & his staff to replace Lloris with Vicario has reaped massive dividends.

Although the goalkeeper was slammed by the media following his performances in the North London Derby last weekend, his presence has overall been a successful addition to the team. He has sown resiliency between the woodworks and has ensured that the Lilywhites have been in good hands from the back.

Spurs could lose Vicario to Inter next summer

However, that could all change soon as Italian giants Inter Milan have expressed interest in landing Vicario in 2025, per Milan Live. The report states that the San Siro side are looking at the 27-year-old goalkeeper as a long-term replacement for Yann Sommer, and Vicario is among the names in the initial plan that Inter have put together to replace Switzerland international at the back.

The player in particular would be tempted at an opportunity to return to his home country if such an opportunity were to arise. It is said that an offer around €30m (£25m) would be enough to tempt Tottenham into a possible deal to sell their number one goalkeeper to the Italian side.

Given the fact that Spurs have endured a difficult start to the season, there is a real possibility that the club would finish out of the Champions League places, and if that were to happen, the doors for Vicario to make a move to Inter would open wide.

Inter Milan are said to be laying the groundwork already, and Spurs could soon be in a situation where they would have to look for a new goalkeeper only a couple of years after buying one they thought could be a presence for the better part of a decade.
