The recent North London Derby result was a tough one to swallow for Tottenham.
Despite a dominant display, playing at home against an injury-stricken side, the Lilywhites came away empty-handed against a dogged Arsenal team.
Now, as they prepare to kick off another season’s hunt for silverware, their coach has come out with a brave admission regarding some of his players.
“They’re ready to play”: Ange Postecoglou ready to give Tottenham youngsters more playing time
Speaking ahead of his side’s Carabao Cup encounter against Coventry City, Ange Postecoglou said he was willing to give some of his younger players more game time in the coming weeks.
“You can see them. Yeah, they might even be on the pitch mate.
“Yeah, they’re ready to play and we’re keen to get them some game time. That’s why we brought them to the club. They’re training really well and the games haven’t gone the way we wanted in terms of giving them some more exposure but we always knew that this is the period where it starts.
“Not just between now and the next international break but post that, probably until the end of January we’re going to have a really busy schedule and they’re going to play a big part in that.
“So guys like those three you mentioned, Wilson who hasn’t played much so far, Pape and a lot of these guys, we’re keen to get them playing because we’re going to need them.”

Indeed, young summer signings like Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray have impressed in the opening games of this season, showcasing their ability to deliver for their coach whenever asked to do so.
Spurs play Coventry on Wednesday night in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
All hands on deck
Spurs’ campaign last season did not feature European football, and yet they found themselves fizzling out towards the end of the season, partly due to the intensity demanded by Postecoglou week in, week out.
This season, Spurs have more games to play, and they need to at least go deep in the cup competitions, especially after Postecoglou having pointing out that he wins during his second seasons after the Arsenal defeat, while in the league they need to ensure they at least qualify for next season’s Champions League for this season to be considered an improvement upon the previous one.
