Postecoglou sees 24-year-old as Tottenham’s creative catalyst as he grows in the role through the middle

Tottenham Hotspur have endured a difficult start to their campaign; however, Ange Postecoglou remains fairly confident that his side can perform better than the performances they have been putting in in the recent weeks, while acknowledging that Dejan Kulusevski is growing in his role through the middle.

The Lilywhites have accumulated just four points in their opening four Premiership matches, and many supporters already hold a cause for concern following Tottenham’s defeat against Arsenal at the weekend.

Postecoglou backs Tottenham to turn around

While some are suggesting that the North Londoners do not have any elite players at White Hart Lane to compete at the top, others have already written off the 2024/25 campaign.

However, Ange has suggested that Spurs have tools to bypass the current situation and come out on top. And while speaking about the situation and solutions, he went on to describe Kulusevski’s situation and how he is seeing the upside in playing the Swede through the middle as he continues to grow in the creative role.

Tottenham boss confident in Kulusevski

Is Kulusevski the answer to Tottenham’s creative woes?

The Australian head coach describing this shows the growing confidence that he has in the former Juventus man as a creative outlet. We saw how Postecoglou went on to sub off Maddison and put Kulusevski through the middle when they needed a goal against Arsenal. While the goal didn’t come, it shows trust in Dejan’s abilities in the midfield.

Speaking to Football.London, Ange said:

I look at our attacking midfield players, I think there’s massive upside in [Dejan] Kulusevski. I’m seeing more and more growth in him in that attacking midfield role.

Kulusevski did do a brilliant job in the role last season when James Maddison was out injured, and it comes as no surprise that the club has continued to trust the 24-year-old by not buying another creative player in the summer window.

It also gives Lilywhites the ability to switch ingame tactics and offensive setup based on game state.
