Jamie O’Hara displeased with Guglielmo Vicario

It was a weekend to forget for Tottenham as they lost the North London Derby to Arsenal.

The 1-0 defeat is home was even harder to take given Spurs dominated possession and had the momentum on their side for most of the game.

After the game, they were handed severe criticism from across the footballing world, including their former players.

Jamie O’Hara displeased with Guglielmo Vicario

In a recent statement, talkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara came out all guns blazing against Tottenham, having in particular choice words for their manager and goalkeeper after the North London Derby defeat.

The former Spurs midfielder had this to say regarding Ange Postecoglou and Guglielmo Vicario.

“I’d give Ange Postecoglou a 3/10 for the way he managed the game against Arsenal. I’m not sure what to think of his tactics at the moment because Tottenham look so soft and are conceding goals for fun. The set-pieces are a disgrace both in attack and defence; he needs to work on that.

“I’d give Guglielmo Vicario a 2/10, he was embarrassing from set-pieces and he looks like he’s going to give the ball away every time he plays out from the back.”

O’Hara speaking to Grosvenor Sport, as quoted by Spurs Web.

Arriving last summer, Vicario played every single league game for Spurs in their 2023/24 campaign, keeping eight clean sheets. He has kept no clean sheets in his opening four league games.

Up next for Spurs in the league is a home game against Brentford on Saturday.

Harsh for the sake of it

Working in football media often requires being harsh and sensationalist just for the sake of it in order to be heard.

Spurs played a closely-contested game against Arsenal and lost, and while their start to the season and their manager’s comments add further flame to the narrative fire, it does not harm to remind ourselves that there is nothing wrong in being reasonable.

Spurs do need to iron some things out quickly, because this is cutthroat business, and whether we like it or not they will be handed a harsh judgement not too far away from the comments presented by the mainstream media after a big-game defeat.
