Tottenham Hotspur have endured a difficult start to their Premier League campaign, and the pressure on the club has been ever increasing despite the turnaround to win the game 3-1 yesterday. While the clinical finishing has been missing from the offensive side of the Lilywhites game, we have barely seen any contributions from Spurs skipper Son Heung-min.
The North Londoners captain has been an integral part of the Lilywhites squad since moving to White Hart Lane in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen and has gone from strength to strength during his time at N17. The South Korean has now established himself as one of the mainstays at Hotspur Way, and his time in limelight has grown since he took over the captain’s armband after Harry Kane’s departure last summer.
Is Son’s magic fading?
Son enjoyed a brilliant season in his first campaign with captain’s responsibilities as he netted 17 goals and bagged 10 assists in his 35 league outings. Heung-Min Son has taken his tally in the Spurs badge to a magnifique 164 goals and established himself in a legendary status at White Hart Lane already.
Spurs have had a slow start to their new campaign, and the skipper has looked a bit rusty. He does seem to have the pressure off of himself with a couple of assists in Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Brentford yesterday.
O’Hara suggests Tottenham move on from Son
And while Son is still seemingly going strong, former Lilywhites midfielder Jamie O’Hara is of the opinion that the 32-year-old is finished and acknowledges that even proper Tottenham fans would agree with the fact that the club needs to move on from the South Korean.
Speaking on talkSPORT, O’Hara was quizzed about Son, where he said:
“I feel like I am over the hill with him now. I just think the fans and everyone are finished with him. The proper fans. He’s not doing it.
“The quality in the final third (has gone). He is 33; is he going to go past people? Listen, he has been a great player and an unbelievable player. A Tottenham great.

“But I just feel like when I am watching him now, have you got that sharpness and edge to your game? I don’t think he has. He has gone clean through their one-v-one. The old Sonny, that’s a guaranteed goal. You can’t take him out of the team because there isn’t anyone better than him, but we have to start looking at a new left-winger.”
Son is not at his previous levels this season, but he is still an important presence in the dressing room. It is difficult to see Ange Postecoglou moving on from his 32-year-old skipper.
