Tottenham Hotspur have returned to winning ways as they came back from behind to secure all three points against Brentford yesterday, and under-pressure wide forward Brennan Johnson has been hailed following the win.

The Lilywhites conceded just 22 seconds in as the crowd at White Hart Lane went shut and shocked; however, they managed to finish a comeback with Dominic Solanke scoring his first goal for the club before Brennan put the hosts in lead and England international James Maddison put the game to bed with Spurs third.

Former Nottingham Forest ace Brennan Johnson has been under mighty pressure to deliver, especially following the abuse he received on social media after Tottenham’s defeat against Arsenal last week. And the Wales international shushed the critics with some incredible performances; he scored the winner against Coventry City in the mid-week and scored all important leading goal against Brentford yesterday.

Former Lilywhites scout, Bryan King, has come in support of the 23-year-old who grosses £70,000 per week and has hit back at the “clowns” and “absolute nobodies” that sent abusive messages to the player. He also expressed his delight at Johnson giving the perfect response to those haters with two goals in two games.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:

“I was pleased for Johnson. For these cowards abusing him, sometimes things come back and hit you in the face. Therefore, I’m glad these clowns have been hit in the face.

“That will do his confidence the world of good. He has had quite a bit of stick from certain people. Absolute nobodies, the people that do this are nobodies.”

It’s not just Brennan Johnson to be fair

It’s not just Johnson who has struggled; the club in whole has endured a slow start to the Premier League season. And with two wins in a row in the space of three days, the supporters would hope for Ange Postecoglou’s side to build on it.

That being said, it is always wrong to spread hate and abusive messages to the players diving for the badge. Those supporters should be banned by the club from being near White Hart Lane.
