Tottenham Hotspur have endured a difficult season in the English top tier thus far; however, Ange Postecoglou’s side found themselves back to winning ways as they took all three points against Brentford at White Hart Lane earlier today.

The Australian head coach has been under abundance of pressure as the Lilywhites have struggled to show their quality on the pitch in the new campaign, and he will be relieved to finally put in a commendable display.

Solanke breaks duck

Solanke opens account, scores his first for the Lilywhites against Brentford

While Spurs take the three points off Brentford, the highlight of the day that will capture headlines in tomorrow’s papers is that of Dominic Solanke. The ex-Liverpool striker has struggled to replicate his performances at Vitality Stadium when wearing the Tottenham shirt.

The Lilywhites record signing came into the fixture against Brentford under mighty pressure; however, he got it right at White Hart Lane earlier today when he slotted home Spurs first of the night to open his tally for his new employers.

The striker spoke about getting his first goal and the confidence that will come from it.

It’s all about confidence

Speaking in an interview with the BBC following the conclusion of the game, Solanke said:

“[It feels] fantastic. To get the win here meant a lot to all of us. We have had some great performances to start the season but haven’t managed to get them to match that so today we wanted to mix them both together. Today we did that.”

“As a striker, it’s always important to get that first goal and I managed to get that today which I’m happy with so hopefully I can continue in this way.”

Many have questioned his credentials over the past few weeks and now that Solanke has broken the deadlock, the Lilywhites faithful would be hoping that the goals follow consistently for the 27-year-old ace.

Tottenham now turn their heads to Europa League proceedings as they face Qarabag FK at White Hart Lane on Thursday night, and Solanke would be hoping to at least double his tally in Spurs shirt when facing Azerbaijani side.
