Ex-Scout lashes into Tottenham star despite stellar performance vs Brentford

published :

Tottenham Hotspur returned to winning ways at the weekend as the North Londoners got better of Thomas Frank’s Brentford to return to winning ways following a disappointing start to their season. And what comes as a massive positive for the Lilywhites is summer marquee signing Dominic Solanke has finally opened his goal-scoring account wearing the Spurs badge amid increasing pressure.

The ex-Liverpool striker equalised for the hosts in the eight minute after Bryan Mbuemo gave Brentford the lead just 22 seconds into the game. Solanke tapped in from a close range after James Maddison’s shot had been saved.

Despite Solanke finding the net, former Spurs scout Bryan King is not left impressed with the £65 million man’s overall performance in the Spurs 3-1 win over Brentford at White Hart Lane. He insists that the 27-year-old would have been in trouble if he missed that opportunity, which fell to him in the premier half.

King goes on to claim that the centre forward’s performance was very similar to one against Coventry City.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:

“For a £60million player, he couldn’t have missed that. I think there would have been some trouble if he did miss that. To be honest, I wasn’t impressed by his overall performance. Just like against Coventry City in midweek, I wasn’t impressed.”

Only way is up

Dominic Solanke has struggled to replicate his Bournemouth presence in the game at N17, and while he blanked in the first three games for his new employers, he also saw an early injury to add to the pressure.

He showed signs of struggles against Brentford as well, despite netting an early goal.

Ange Postecoglou would be hoping that the striker takes something out of it and adds to his confidence as the North Londoners turn their heads to the Europa League, where they host Qarabag on Thursday.
