Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara has asked wide forward Brennan Johnson to ‘concentrate on football’ after what has been a raucous week for the Wales international.
The former Nottingham Forest player found himself thick of things following the Lilywhites defeat to Arsenal last week. Things escalated to a point where the £70,000-a-week winger was forced to deactivate his social media profiles owing to the constant abuses from tolls online.
Recent goal-scoring form
However, it’s not about how you react off the pitch but rather about your response to it, and the 23-year-old has come out with all cylinders firing following the North London Derby.
The player got his moment of madness against Coventry City in the Carabao Cup, where the Lilywhites were trailing for a long time before a Djed Spence-inspired goal in the 88th minute gave the Lilywhites another crack at the tie, and the 2001-born winger grabbed his opportunity when he scored the winner to save faces from another early exit in the EFL Cup.
O’Hara’s advice to Brennan Johnson
Johnson scored another goal against Brentford at the weekend, making it two in two games since he deactivated his social media handles. And Jamie O’Hara, who featured 56 times donning the Spurs badge between 2005 and 2010, has advised the player to stay focused on football rather than all the noise away from the pitch.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Lilywhites midfielder said:
“Fair play to Brennan Johnson; he took some stick and it’s affected him; he deleted his Instagram. But you know what? Concentrate on your football, and that’s the best way to answer your critics, score goals, and do the business, so fair to him.”

Agreeing to O’Hara, his co-host added:
“He’s had a tough last week; he took a little bit of stick after the north London derby. He got the winning goal midweek; today he gets another goal; he’s had a tough and bumpy ride at Spurs.”
Brennan will now have an opportunity to make it three in three when the North Londoners welcome Azerbaijani side Qarabağ FK to White Hart Lane in the mid-week.
