Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane off late, with the Milan duo revolving around his potential signature for the next summer transfer window.
Vicario has established himself as a key cog in Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs, and his importance has been ever-increasing in the dressing room, with the Australian head coach promoting the Italian international to a senior squad role off late.
Italian giants interested
The 27-year-old has been one of the better goalkeepers in the Premier League since he arrived from Empoli in a £17 million deal, which looks like a bargain in retrospect and is a key presence in Spurs first phase.
Looking at his progress at White Hart Lane, Italian giants AC Milan and Inter Milan have been vying for his signatures in a £25 million move next summer. However, despite links away from Hotspur Way, former scout Bryan King doesn’t think the 27-year-old is interested in a move away from Spurs.
Vicario wants a new contract at White Hart Lane?
The ex-scout thinks that Vicario is keen on signing a brand new contract and will leverage the interest in his services for a new deal at N17.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:
“I think this is his agent stirring up a little bit of interest. Perhaps that is because Vicario is looking for another contract with Tottenham. He has done well since joining the club, even if there are certain things that he needs to improve on.
“Overall, he had a great season last year, and he kept Spurs in games at times.”
Vicario has been contracted with Tottenham till 2028, and there is no rush to tie him up to a new deal just yet. Moreover, there have been some individual facilities that have hurt the Lilywhites, highlighting him, and he needs to resolve those before asking for a new deal at Tottenham.
For Spurs, they need to start putting their pieces together as Guglielmo Vicario would be soon knocking doors to try and get a pay raise.
