Tottenham Hotspur had ample positives as they returned to winning ways against Brentford at the weekend, and one of the lesser highlights was that of Italian international Destiny Udogie.
Destiny Udogie has been one of the better left backs in the English top tier since Ange Postecoglou gave him a run of games under his system in the previous season. However, the Italian pulled up with injury in the latter stages of the season, which proved fatal to Spurs hopes of a Champions League qualification finish.
Udogie’s impressive performance vs Brentford
He has looked a bit rusty since as he nurses back to full fitness, and what comes as good news is that the 21-year-old played magnificently against Brentford.
John Wenham, owner of the, acknowledged Udogie’s display while claiming that he was a constant threat from the left flank. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:

“I loved the performance from Spurs. After Brentford got their early goal, I thought that we exerted complete domination on the match. James Maddison will get the plaudits because of the role that he plays.
“I thought he was good at Coventry also. However, there was another performance which I was impressed by.
“I thought Udogie was back to his best on the left-hand side. He was a constant problem throughout the match.”
Udogie is a threat from the left flank
Udogie is an undisputed starter under Ange Postecoglou for not only his offensive contributions but also for how he understands the tactical aspects of the game and balances out the defensive side of the game with his antics going forward.
And if his performances against Thomas Frank’s side are to go by, he is looking back to being his best self on the pitch, and Spurs supporters would be delighted with having him contribute at his optimum level once again.
With the Italian international back, Spurs would also be expected to incur more offensive actions, especially with Son, who can now have the freedom to cut inside with Udogie holding the width.
