Tottenham’s £90k-per-week ace compared to Kane for Brentford heroics

published :

Tottenham Hotspur returned to winning ways at the weekend as they accumulated three points at White Hart Lane following their win over Thomas Frank’s Brentford; however, the first thing on a Spurs faithful highlight reel from the fixture is the Lilywhites record signing Dominic Solanke scoring his first goal wearing the North Londoners badge.

The ex-Liverpool striker has endured a difficult start to his season at Hotspur Way, but the first one is out of the way, and the 27-year-old can build on it now.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, John Wenham, is confident that Dominic Solanke, who is grossing £90,000-per-week, can replicate Harry Kane’s success at White Hart Lane despite the slow start he has incurred at N17.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, John Wenham acknowledged that the hold-up play by the Lilywhites forward was very reminiscent of what Harry Kane did during his time at Spurs.

Wenham said:

“I was impressed by Solanke. He was holding up the ball, pressing from the front and winning free kicks in a way we haven’t seen a Tottenham striker do since Kane.

“Solanke is unlikely to score as many goals as Harry Kane in Tottenham colours, and he is never getting close to what Kane means to the club and its people. However, Solanke can still become a huge part of everything Tottenham are building and become a success at N17.

“Obviously, he got his goal as well, and I think he could have had another. I’ve seen enough to tell me that Solanke will score a lot of goals in this Spurs team.

“Therefore, now that he has that first one, I think it would be wise to start him in the UEFA Europa League. Hopefully, then he might be able to grab another couple ahead of the trip to Old Trafford.”

Can Solanke reach Kane’s heights?

Solanke is unlikely to score as many goals as Harry Kane in Tottenham colours, and he is never getting close to what Kane means to the club and its people. However, Solanke can still become a huge part of everything Tottenham are building and become a success at N17.

The love should start showing if he were to bag a couple of goals in the all-important game against Manchester United at the weekend.
