Nottingham Forest to challenge Tottenham for 24-year-old attacker; Liverpool also keen.

Just weeks after the shut-down of the summer transfer window, attention turns to the January transfer window as clubs prepare to prepare for the second half of the season.

Spurs did not get too many senior signings in during the summer, and their high-octane proclivities mean they’ll need to recruit a player or two to their cause in the winter.

To that end, they are set to face tough competition for one of their targets.

Nottingham Forest ready to compete with Tottenham for Barış Alper Yılmaz

As reported by Caught Offside, Nottingham Forest are ready to compete with Tottenham in the January transfer window for the signature of Barış Alper Yılmaz.

The 24-year-old, now in his fourth year at Galatasaray, is no spring chicken. He has been drawing comparison with Gareth Bale owing to the fact that he started at fullback before becoming an operator higher up the pitch due to his attacking capabilities.

Last season, Yılmaz made 55 appearances across all competitions, providing 19 direct goal contributions. He already has four goals and an assist from nine appearances so far this season.

Valued by Transfermarkt at €20 million, Yılmaz currently has in place an €800k-per-year contract at Galatasaray set to run until June 2027. Liverpool have also shown an interest in him.

Need to play the cards right

Yılmaz will need to be careful with which club he chooses in the Premier League, if that is the destination he has decided for himself.

Out of Forest, Liverpool, and Spurs, the Reds are arguably his best bet at long-term success on paper, though that’s not to say he won’t be able to perform at all at the other two clubs.

And then, the money offered to Galatasaray and his wage package will also play a huge role, and while Liverpool and Spurs tend to be pragmatic about these things, the same cannot be said for Forest.
