Former Tottenham midfielder ‘returns to form’ for his new employers in French top tier

Tanguy Ndombele appears to have hit the ground running at OGC Nice following a tough stint at Tottenham Hotspur. The 27-year-old midfielder left Spurs by mutual consent but has made an impression in the French top flight with his early displays.

Tanguy Ndombele joined Tottenham on a six-year contract from French club Lyon in 2019, becoming the club’s record signing at the time, although his time in North London was marked by an injury-hit spell and disappointing loan moves.

He spent the last three seasons on loan, first to his former club Lyon, followed by Napoli and Galatasaray, before being released by Spurs on a free transfer following the mutual termination of his contract with one year remaining.

Ndombele impact at OGC Nice

No Future at N17 as Tottenham are ready to cut ties with Ndombele.
Ndombele is loving life in France.

However, it looks like he has been working relentlessly to get back into shape, and the results are clear. In just five matches, he’s clocked an impressive 431 minutes of playing time and scored his first goal for OGC Nice in their 8-0 thrashing of Saint-Etienne.

Le Figaro (via Sport Witness) lauded Ndombele’s latest performance, stating that it “confirms his return to form,” with the club environment “suiting him” perfectly.

According to RMC Sport, he has “quickly dispelled doubts” about his physical condition, and his strong form suggests nigger things to come during his stay at Nice.

As Tanguy Ndombele continues to perform well in the French league, it’s exciting to consider what we might expect from him in the future.

Will the 27-year-old midfielder be able to maintain this level of performance and become a dominant force in the French top tier following his failure to do so at N17? Only time will tell, but for now, it’s great to see him prospering in his new environment.
