Archie Gray had a memorable night out on the pitch yesterday as Tottenham kicked off their UEFA Europa League (UEL) campaign.

The 18-year-old shone at right-back and helped his side keep a clean sheet despite going down to ten men inside the opening eight minutes.

After the game, Gray spoke about the pride he felt and how happy he was with his manager.

Archie Gray “grateful” for Ange Postecoglou after shining in Europa League opener

After Tottenham’s win over Qarabağ, Archie Gray spoke to the media about Ange Postecoglou and how happy he was with the current Spurs manager.

“I’m really grateful to have the manager we’ve got. I’m a big fan of him. I’m grateful to have him here and to learn so much off him, it’s a big opportunity for me.

“To hear stuff like that from him, it makes you trust yourself even more and have more confidence to go out there and be fearless. That’s what he wants from us and hopefully we can go out and do that every game we’re trusted to be in.”

Gray has been impressing with his performances on the pitch ever since arriving in North London earlier in the summer on the back of his £30m move from Leeds United, having signed a six-year, £75k-per-week contract.

Up next for Gray and Co is an away trip to Man United in the Premier League.

More to come

When it comes to youngsters, Spurs have recruited well, and in Ange Postecoglou they have a great coach to help them grow.

Postecoglou’s dogmatic football may not be conducive for long-term success at the club, but it does imbibe the youngsters with the kind of moral fibre that will set them up for their career regardless of where they play.

The likes of Archie Gray and other youngsters in the Spurs first team will learn a lot under their Aussie manager on the training pitch.
