There is a trend budding at Tottenham Hotspur, which could be a cause of frustration for midfielder James Maddison, according to Don Hutchinson.
Concerns among the Spurs faithful for the former Leicester City midfielder were already growing coming into the new season because of his Euro snub by Gareth Southgate and the fact that it was uncertain whether Maddison would take that on the chin and come back better.
However, the 27-year-old has been putting in impressive performances in the new campaign and has already silenced his critics. He has been slotting into half spaces and showing his offensive threat to reiterate the fact that there are not many creative players better than him in the English top tier.
Maddison frustrated by late substitutions, claims Hutchinson
Don Hutchinson has rather pointed out at moments that would be frustrating the England international. There has been a trend off late where Ange Postecoglou has been subbing off Maddison in the second half to give Lucas Bergvall some minutes under his belt.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Hutchison said:
“What I’ve noticed as well, which must be really frustrating for him, in the last 15 minutes of games that Tottenham play he gets taken off. I can never understand when you’re trailing in a game you take one of your most creative players off.
“He’s the one who has the magic, he’s one of those players where you need to feed him otherwise he can be anonymous in a game. He won’t go box to box and cover the ground.”
Spurs do need Bergvall ready
Bergvall has shown glimpses of high potential, and it is important for the Australian tactician to build his minutes, and the teenager has been playing some great football when given the chance.
Knowing Maddison’s injury problems, it is better to keep Bergvall ready if such circumstances arise. But it is also important to ensure that Maddison’s confidence is at its peak.
Ange is dealing with a delicate situation here. He will have to operate smartly to not only give Lucas some minutes but also ensure that Maddison stays sharp.
