Tottenham were handed a major blow last week as their talismanic leader Son Heung-min was taken off mid-game against Qarabağ due to injury.
The South Korea international missed Spurs’ weekend game, with his manager remaining mostly non-committing regarding his ailment.
However, we have received a hint as to how long Son may remain on the sidelines.
Son Heung-min return hinted with South Korea pick
Tottenham captain Son Heung-min has been picked up for South Korea’s upcoming fixtures during the international break despite his ongoing injury.
The 32-year-old, also captain of the South Korea senior men’s national team, was subbed off during his side’s opening UEFA Europa League game against Qarabağ in the mid-week and missed out completely on Spurs’ weekend victory over Man United.
During the international break, South Korea are set to face Jordan and Iraq during the AFC Qualifying stage for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
For Spurs, Son has two goals and assists each so far this season from seven appearances across all competitions.
Uplifting news
Son would not have been picked up by the South Korea management if there was no chance of him even making light training on international duty.
The upcoming qualifying games are crucial for South Korea, and if Son can make the pitch, he will do so. That said, it is more likely he travels with the squad but remains rested unless there’s an emergency.
Nevertheless, this is good news for Spurs, as Son won’t be out for long.
