Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane, with Italian duo Inter Milan and AC Milan expressing interest in landing the Italian international.
Vicario has been one of the better keepers in the Premier League since moving to the English top tier from Empoli in 2023, and his progress has been making noise in his home country as two elites of the Italian top division look to make a move for the 27-year-old.
Inter and Milan eyeing move for Tottenham’s Vicario
Despite links with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, John Wenham, claims that “he is very happy” at N17 and isn’t surprised that the “outstanding” goalie has been linked with a return to Italy.
Vicario has become an undisputed starter at White Hart Lane despite criticisms from set pieces off late. His influence in Spurs buildup has been massive, and that has reciprocated his smooth succession from Hugo Lloris at N17.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham insists that the Italian player’s preference in their home country means that clubs wanting the 27-year-old at some point would have to be expected. He also insists that the player is part of the leadership group at Spurs and doesn’t see him moving away from the club despite reports of an expected £25 million bid from Inter Milan.
He said:
“I’d imagine that any Italian player who is doing well outside of Italy will naturally be linked with a return back to Italy. It is the same when English players go abroad and do well. These are easy stories to run which normally have truth behind them. As a result, I’m not surprised Vicario is linked with Inter.
“However, I just can’t see it happening. He was signed last summer, he has a long-term contract, and he is very happy at Tottenham. He’s part of the leadership group, he is an outstanding goalkeeper, one of the top five in the Premier League. Therefore, I just don’t see this happening.”
