Tottenham star under fire from home media for misfiring Old Trafford performance.

Tottenham Hotspur have endured a slow start to their season, and that is down to individualistic reasons as well. One of the players that has come under a lot of pressure is Timo Werner.

The Lilywhites are already thin in the offensive options for their Europa League fixture against Ferencvárosi, with the likes of Heung-min Son, Wilson Odobert, and Richarlison all scheduled to miss out on the Spurs trip to Hungary. This would mean that Ange Postecoglou would be forced to start RB Leipzig loanee Timo Werner on Thursday night.

Werner under fire for missed chances

Can Werner overcome finishing woes?

The 28-year-old always works tirelessly off the ball, and he looked dangerous on the ball while he did muddle up his lines on three separate occasions after being put through on goals. He has always faced plenty of criticism owing to his poor finishing over the years, and that has continued to haunt him again.

German outlet Fussball Transfers has criticised the German international for his poor finishing when Spurs faced Man United owing to his lack of composure in front of goal as an ‘old illness’ and while the 28-year-old had a decent display, the report added’simply didn’t score goals’.

They didn’t stop here; Fussball Transfers went on to insist that Werner’s ‘legs often seem too fast for his head’ which, in order to be ‘back from obscurity,’ he would have to start putting some chances to bed on a more regular basis.

Werner did play some good football during his initial months in North London last season, and the Lilywhites faithful would be hoping for the German to find his purple patch donning the Spurs badge soon.
