Tottenham Hotspur have found a way beyond their rough set of form as the Lilywhites continue to build on their newly found success, and former Nottingham Forest wide forward Brennan Johnson has found his rhythm in front of goal.
The Welshman has now netted in five successive games across all competitions and aided Spurs in their bid to compete for silverware on all fronts. Brennan has finally caught a wave after multiple underwhelming rides, which soon turned into a cause of criticism.
He was consistently slated by supporters and pundits alike for his lack of a final product, and that also aggregated into the player having to delete his Instagram account owing to the abuses after the North London Derby.
However, it looks like Brennan has finally got his head down and found his feet and focus, as he continually looks like one of the best wingers in the English top tier. His goal-scoring ability means that Johnson has quickly emerged as the top goal scorer at White Hart Lane, and following his rich form, former Arsenal star Paul Merson believes that the £70,000-per-week forward is a totally different player than what he was at the start of the season.
Merson praises Johnson transformation
While Spurs were playing some decent football when the 2024/25 season commenced, finding the final product had been a problem; however, that has not been the case off late, as the likes of Dominic Solanke and James Maddison have also found themselves alongside Brennan.
Merson writes in his column for Sportskeeda:
“Dominic Solanke is slowly starting to find some form. The same goes for a lot of the other players, especially Brennan Johnson. Not too long ago, Johnson looked like a fish up a tree. Take a look at him now! It’s the same with James Maddison, he looks like a different player compared to a few weeks ago.”
Brennan Johnson signed for Spurs for £47.5m last summer, and Spurs are finally reaping dividends from his investment.
