Tottenham Hotspur have a plethora of young players at their disposal, and the Lilywhites faithful saw one of those academy starlets shine in the mid-week as Hotspur Way academy graduate Mikey Moore performed brilliantly against Ferencvárosi TC in the Europa League.
With the injury crisis that the Lilywhites are suffering, Spurs supporters would be wondering if head coach Ange Postecoglou would start the teenager when they travel to American Express Stadium tomorrow.
King doubts Moore will start against Brighton
While his cameos suggest that Moore is ready to get a start against Brighton, ex-Lilywhites scout Bryan King expects the teenager to start on the bench. He does acknowledge that the 17-year-old does have “a chance of starting” against the Seagulls; however, he believes that the Australian head coach would rather call on a senior player at the moment.
Tottenham skipper Son Heung-min is scheduled to miss the game at the weekend, and in the pre-game press conference, Ange Postecoglou did acknowledge that the South Korean is “unlikely” to be available for the clash against the Seagulls; “he’s pushing hard, but I just don’t think the turnaround will be quick enough for him to be available at this stage.”
Tottenham News did reach out to the club in a bid to understand the extent of Son’s injury; however, the club is yet to put a time line on the South Korean’s return. And former Spurs scout Bryan King still doesn’t think that warrants a start for Moore.
In King’s words…
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:
“I think Moore has a chance of starting. However, I imagine quite a few players will come back into the team. I can’t see the team that started in the Europa League starting against Brighton.”
“Moore will probably be on the bench. If Son doesn’t play, I’d imagine they will start with Dejan Kulusevski, Timo Werner, or maybe even Brennan Johnson on the left. I’d be surprised if Moore starts.”
“Postecoglou is bringing him through slowly, and he certainly looked comfortable on Thursday. However, Brighton is quite a step up.”

Moore is still taking baby steps in men’s football, and we should see more of him. It is easy to forget that he is still 17-year-old, and his development should be nurtured carefully.
