Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison came into the 2024/35 campaign on the back of a difficult summer after he was snubbed by Gareth Southgate for the Three Lions squad for the European Championship. Many speculated how being left off the squad would affect the former Leicester City maestro; however, credit to him — Maddison came back into the new campaign with a fire in his belly.
We are watching Madison control games for the Lilywhites on a regular basis as he pushes through to become one of the best creative midfielders in the English top tier.
There have been ample of changes in the England camp following the EURO 2024 campaign, as Gareth Southgate has stepped down from the managerial role and Lee Carsley has taken up his job.
The former Everton star came through following Southgate’s footsteps to omit Maddison from the England camp in the September internationals, and he is sticking with his decision for the upcoming international break as well.
Will Maddison use England snub as motivation?
There is no place for a £170,000-per-week man in the England squad as he stays on the omitted list alongside the likes of Eberechi Eze, Jarrod Bowen, Marcus Rashford, or Harry Maguire, per The Independent. Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers will also have to wait for his maiden call-up for the Three Lions despite impressing for Aston Villa in the past few weeks.
Former Manchester United midfielder Angel Gomes keeps his place alongside Rico Lewis and Morgan Gibbs-White.
Phil Foden will also have his place reserved for the Three Lions; this is something that will leave Spurs fans and Maddison fuming as the Manchester City graduate has barely played for the Cityzens in the ongoing season.
