Podcast host expects £12 million centre-back to go on loan next summer

Former Tottenham Hotspur scout Bryan King unconvinced by Luka Vuskovic .

Tottenham Hotspur have a plethora of talents at their disposal, which makes it absolutely necessary for the Lilywhites as they undertake developments of the young players; one of those highly attributable starlets that has got the Spurs faithful excited is Luka Vušković.

The Lilywhites signed Vušković from Hajduk Split in a £12 million deal with the centre-back scheduled to move to North London in the summer of 2025 after he turns eighteen. The player is currently plying his trade on loan at Westerlo in Belgium from Hajduk Split, where he is linking with Hotspur Way academy graduate Alfie Devine, who is also spending the 2024/25 campaign on loan at the Belgian side.

When he comes to White Hart Lane next summer, the 18-year-old will be much more developed than many teenagers, as he would have spent time linking up with the first team in Croatia, Poland, and Belgium. That being said, the physical nature of English football takes some time to adapt, and it would be foolish for Spurs to throw in the youngster straight into the far end of the English top tier.

And John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, expects the club to push Vušković to join an EFL Championship club in a loan deal next summer to attain his development and adapt to the nature of football in England.

Wenham recommends loan move for Vušković

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:

“For Vušković and Devine it is just about playing regularly in Belgium. They’re playing for a fairly decent side in Westerlo and there are lots of good challenges ahead. Both of them will then be looking to impress in pre-season.”

“With Vušković, I think the plan is to get him a Championship loan next season. One where he will be guaranteed starts.”

“That will allow him to continue to progress and learn about English football.”

It is exciting for Spurs to have another highly regarded talent who is ready to contribute to the first team, but it is smart to ensure that he gets regular minutes right now as he adapts to life in London.
