Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison has been a frustrating figure at Hotspur Way as his injury concerns continue to keep him on the sidelines on a consistent basis. The Brazilian international has just featured for 25 minutes in the 2024/25 campaign, and there are expectations that he will continue to serve the sidelines for some time.
The former Watford star has endured difficult spells in finding his feet since arriving in North London from Everton. Beyond that purple patch he enjoyed in the middle of the previous campaign, which saw him score eleven goals, Richy has continued to struggle at Hotspur Way.
To put it into perspective, the striker has only netted 15 goals for Tottenham in 68 appearances across a couple of seasons donning the Spurs badge. And considering the fact that Daniel Levy forked out £60m to attain his services, many could consider his transfer a failure.
It looks like the injury problems have continued to aid the player in the new campaign as well, and that gives a good reason for Spurs to cut ties with Richy and accept their loss.
Wenham wants Richarlison sold in January
John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, wants to see the centre forward shipped off in the winter transfer window as he urges the Lilywhites chiefs to take a ‘huge financial loss’ on the Brazil international.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:
“It was time to cut ties with him in the summer, he’s never available. It’s very frustrating because when he is fit, he has shown that he can make a massive contribution. We need him, but he’s just not there for us and he can’t be relied upon. Therefore, he must be sold in January. Something will have to be done to try and encourage him to leave. Levy needs to accept the huge financial loss. We cannot keep going with this situation.”
