Tottenham ace shares how ‘it’s all starting to come together’ after N17 move

Three talking points as Tottenham Hotspur beat Aston Villa 4-1.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke has been called up to represent the Three Lions in the ongoing international break, which marks his return to the English camp after seven long years after making his debut for the country in 2017.

Solanke was just taking his baby steps into men’s football when he was first integrated in the England setup when he won his first and only cap, at nineteen, against Brazil. The fact that his cap came so young shows how he has always been highly regarded; however, now at 26, it shows how he has endured a roller coaster of a career from Chelsea and Liverpool to Bournemouth and Tottenham.

Solanke seven-year itch scratched with England call-up

From Liverpool to Tottenham, Solanke finally earns England return

The ex-Liverpool striker has been speaking to England’s official media about his return to the Three Lions squad, where he went on to admit how things are finally falling into place for him with a move to White Hart Lane while acknowledging his career path.

Speaking on England Football’s official website, Solanke said:

“I’ve had quite a journey in football. Everyone’s journey is different and I wouldn’t change it. I’ve had a lot of ups and a lot of downs as well but I think that’s made me who I am today on and off the pitch.

“I’m grateful for everything and hopefully I can carry on my form. I’m improving all the time and I feel like, at the moment, I’m full of confidence. I feel like my game’s improved a lot and I’m at that point in my career where it’s all starting to come together.”

Dom Solanke took a while to adapt to the pressure of playing upfront for the Lilywhites, although it looks like he has finally found his feet and this call-up to the English camp would work wonderfully for him in terms of boosting his confidence.

Many would argue that there are players who have played brilliantly at the start of the 2024/25 campaign and deserve the call-up more than Solanke, but they forget that Dom has been working for seven years for this, not the last seven games.

Now he, along with Spurs supporters, would be hoping that he can at least double his tally of caps for England in the upcoming couple of games.
