Tottenham’s record signing Dominic Solanke has so far been more good than bad for Tottenham, it’s safe to say.
Whether the Englishman, recently recalled to the national team, will turn out to be a good investment in the long term is something we’ll have to wait and find out.
For the time being, Spurs have a golden opportunity to poach one of Europe’s most consistent strikers in the past half a decade for free.
Tottenham and Arsenal monitoring Lille’s Jonathan David
As reported by London World, both Tottenham and Arsenal are looking to sign Jonathan David in the coming months.
The Lille forward is reportedly not willing to extend his contract, which expires at the end of this season, allowing his suitors to directly contact him come January over a free move next summer.
Now in his fifth season with Les Dogues, the Canada international continues building upon his reputation one of the most consistent forwards in Europe.
David already has eight goals and two assists this season from 13 appearances across all competitions.
Valued by Transfermarkt at €45m million, David’s current expiring contract fetches him €1.68 million per week.
A deal too good to miss
A player of David’s ability and pedigree is too good to miss out on, especially when he’s available for free.
David would have slotted into the starting XIs of many a side in the Premier League this season itself, though it’s understandable most of his suitors wanted to see how his contract situation would pan out.
Both Arsenal are Tottenham have their forward slots filled at the moment, though interest remains for him in Italy and Spain as well. David will be one of the moves of the summer next year regardless of where he ends up.
