Tottenham podcast host backs two youngsters for Europa League debut

We have seen Ange Postecoglou give opportunities to young players in the Europa League as the Australian head coach looks to use UEFA’s second-tier competition as a matchday to rest some of the senior starters who play week-in-week-out on the weekends. The former Celtic coach has faced ample of criticism coming his way in the previous two UEL matchdays. 

The push for Ange to try to give some senior minutes to academy players can lead to a few debuts, with Tyrese Hall and Alfie Dorrington among the line to make their full Tottenham debut. John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, believes that both the aforementioned players are likely to get “significant minutes” in the Europa League.

Spurs have won their opening couple of matchday fixtures in the Europa League this season, after having beat Qarabağ at N17 on 26 September before their away win against the Hungarian champions, Ferencváros, on 3 October.

With two wins in a row in the bag, Ange Postecolgou now has the freedom to introduce some academy players in the upcoming fixtures. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:

“Now that we have won our first couple of matches, I think some young players will come into consideration. I expect that players such as Dorrington and Hall could play significant minutes in the competition. They might even get full games just by being in the right place at the right time. Therefore, that is something to look forward to as well.”

Ange Postecoglou recently handed full debuts to Will Lankshear and Mikey Moore in the UEL, and by the looks of it, as Wenham suggests, Tyrese Hall and Alfie Dorrington could be counting their days before making a full debut for the Lilywhites.
