Tottenham Hotspur have multiple leaders on the pitch, and that has been a founding structure of Ange Postecoglou‘s side as they have elite mental profiles, and more recently there have been reports about goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario being included into the senior setup at Hotspur Way following his impressive presence between the posts.
The Italian goalkeeper has been one of the better goalkeepers in the Premier League since he moved to White Hart Lane from Empoli in the previous summer. He has seamlessly transitioned into a position that Hugo Lloris held for a long time, and he is expected to do the same for the Lilywhites as well.
Vicario: More than just a goalkeeper
While the papers have focused on Vicario’s problems from dead ball situations, the 27-year-old has continued to make his presence felt behind the scenes. He has apparently earned the trust of Ange’s staff and his teammates, enough so that the Greek-born tactician decided to include him in the club’s leadership group.
The player has now spoken about his proudness to be included in the leadership group at N17 alongside the likes of Heung-min Son, Cristian Romero, and James Madison. The Italian went on to admit his keenness to share his experience and journey with the young players at White Hart Lane.

Speaking to Yahoo Sport, Vicario said:
“I am very proud of that (new leadership role). It makes me feel important in the dressing room because we are a group of very young lads, very talented lads.”
“But sometimes you need some old guys to manage some situations inside the dressing room, to keep developing these guys and to help them do good things in and out of the pitch. So, very happy with that, but first of all I have to focus on my game and make sure I can perform at the top level.”

Guglielmo Vicario has the capacity to stay and become a presence around White Hart Lane. It is great to see that the leadership group at N17 is growing leaps and bounds with the right talent.
