Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has been pondering about the potentials at White Hart Lane off late, and he thinks that EURO 2020 star Mikkel Damsgaard would be an ideal signing for Tottenham Hotspur.
The player currently plys his trade for the Lilywhites Premier League rivals Brentford after coming into the limelight in the aforementioned European Championships, where he netted twice in five appearances for Denmark. His most notable output came when he curled a neatly taken free-kick against England in the semi-finals.
Damsgaard was still a Sampdoria player then, but Daniel Levy liked what he saw and pursued a move to land the highly regarded Danish star alongside the likes of Juventus and Inter Milan.
Despite interests from mighty clubs, Damsgaard was sold to Brentford in a £10.1 million deal as the versatile player looked to make his mark in the English top tier.
Ian Wright sees Damsgaard as ideal fit for Spurs
And following a few underwhelming months at Gtech Community Stadium, Damsgaard has finally started to find his form once again, with the Bees fixture against Wolves surfacing his quality. The Denmark international set up two goals in Thomas Frank’s 5-3 win over Wolves.

And watching Damsgaard, Ian Wright thinks he could fit into the style of play under Ange Postecoglou at White Hart Lane. Speaking on Wrighty’s House Podcast, the ex-Arsenal striker said:
“I remember he scored that free kick against England, and at the time I think Barcelona were all over him; the two Milan teams were all over him, Spurs. Yeah, with the form he has now, you could see him somewhere like Spurs.”

Damsgaard has exciting potential and has depth of experience despite his tender 24-year-old age. He is someone who can become an understudy to Kulusevski owing to their similar playing styles and the versatility of both that allows them to contribute in multiple attacking roles.
