Every once in a while a few players arrive on the scene whose numbers and contracts make them too good a prospect to miss out on.
One such player has appeared on Tottenham’s radar, though they are not the only side in England looking at him.
Viktoria Plzeň midfielder Pavel Šulc targeted by Tottenham and Aston Villa
As reported by TBR Football, Tottenham are one of three main names in the Premier League that have emerged as potential destinations for Viktoria Plzeň midfielder Pavel Šulc.
The attacking midfielder, capable of operating both centrally and out wide, has been part of Viktoria Plzeň’s senior setup since the 2020/21 season. After a string of loan spells, he has finally come into his own as a serial provider of goals and assists from the middle of the pitch.
Last season, the Czechia international delivered 22 goals and eight assists to the Fortuna Liga side in 49 games across all competitions. He has started this season in fine fashion too, having already to his name six goals and three assists in 16 appearances.
Valued by Transfermarkt at €8 million, the 23-year-old has his current contract running out in June 2026.
Man City and Aston Villa are also looking at Šulc.
The next bargain?
Of course, one needs to take into account the fact that the difference of quality between the Czech and English topflights is fairly substantial.
Even taking that into account, when one looks at Šulc’s age, recent numbers, current contract, and market valuation, it’s hard not to reach the conclusion that he looks like a punt worth taking.
Some big names are linked with the Czech youngster right now, though it won’t be too big a surprise if he were to be poached away by a bottom-half Premier League side this season. Any which way, a big move looks imminent for Šulc.
