Criticism has returned to Hotspur Way after Tottenham’s last week defeat to Brighton.

One pundit, in the meantime, has made of his former side an impossible demand.

Jason Cundy urges Tottenham “to be adaptable”

In a recent appearance on Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel dedicated to all things Tottenham, talkSPORT pundit and former Lilywhite Jason Cundy discussed, among other things, Tottenham’s lack of tactical flexibility under Ange Postecoglou.

“In the Premier League, you need to be adaptable, you need to tailor your team and tactics according to the opposition. One size doesn’t fit all.”

“Postecoglou is trying to change the culture at Spurs, but he has to adapt if he’s going to succeed in the Premier League. You can’t play the same way against every team.”

The 59-year-old has said on multiple occasions that he will not be changing his approach for any opposition under any circumstance, and has evidently stayed true to his word.

After the ongoing international break, the first challenge for Postecoglou and Co will be a local London affair as they welcome West Ham at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next weekend in the Premier League.

Not happening

From what Postecoglou has shown us so far by virtue of his statements and actions, he is not changing his way of doing things. Not now. Not ever.

And more power to him. That’s part of his allure, but choices have consequences, and the consequence of his stance is a ceiling his team have already reached.

All that remains to be seen is whether Spurs can put together another string of good results to keep him in the job for a bit longer. As for the club, they have a decision to make. They know exactly what needs to be done, however harsh it may seem. It’s just a matter of when at this point.
