Paratici to aid Tottenham’s pursuit of David
Tottenham Hotspur signed Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth earlier this summer. After a slow start to life in north London, he has been finally able to find his feet and is on track to eclipse the 19 Premier League goals tally he reached with the Cherries last season in his maiden year with the Lilywhites.
Though Solanke is now one of the first names on Ange Postecoglou’s team sheet, Spurs remain alert to opportunities to sign players in the transfer window in 2025 and have shortlisted Lille striker Jonathan David as a primary target. The Canadian international is also wanted by Arsenal as Mikel Arteta needs a hitman given that Gabriel Jesus has struggled with injuries.
Caught Offside has claimed that Tottenham have stolen a march on their fierce rivals in the running to sign Jonathan David as Fabio Paratici will aid their pursuit. The former sporting director does not hold an official position at the club but will help them in their bid to acquire David through his network and reputation across Europe.
Jonathan David is one of the most potent strikers in the continent and it is only a matter of time before he leaves the Ligue 1 for a new challenge. He struck 26 goals and provided nine assists last season, and has picked up where he left off this time around with eight strikes and two assists to his name already in the campaign.
While Tottenham are keen on his transfer, Champions League qualification will play a massive role in determining whether or not David prefers a move to Hotspur Way. One must also be mindful of the fact that he will need to compete with Solanke for a regular berth, whereas a primary role is effectively guaranteed if he joins Arsenal.

Fabio Paratici’s involvement in a potential deal with Lille for the North American marksman will definitely bolster Spurs’ chances of signing Jonathan David but given that they have already spent a respectable fee on bringing in Dominic Solanke, they may fall short to Arsenal in the running for the 24-year-old.
