Tottenham Hotspur signed wide forward Wilson Odobert from Burnley in the recently concluded summer transfer window, with the move for the Frenchman coming as an alternative to Nico Williams’s pursuit. While eyebrows were raised when Spurs announced his signing, the winger took no time to show exactly why.
Odobert is a player very different from all the wide forwards that Ange Postecoglou has on his roster. The 19-year-old likes to not only drive the ball in space but also take his man on and try to make things happen with his flair and skills. His unique skill set could be really crucial for Spurs.
He featured three times in the Premier League for the Lilywhites this campaign, and that’s all it took for the North Londoners faithful to be excited about him. Odobert started against Everton and Newcastle while he came off the bench against Arsenal. However, he suffered a hamstring injury in the following fixture and has been serving the sidelines since.
Odobert out for West Ham clash
He was targeting a return against West Ham when Tottenham resume their Premier League duties following the international break; however, that seems highly unlikely, according to injury expert Dr. Rajpal Brar.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Dr. Rajpal Brar said:
-> Former Spurs scout suggests Tottenham target will leave his current employers
“This sounds like a Grade 3 out of 4 hamstring injury based on the details we know. If the projected timeline holds of a mid to late October return, then he would see a partial return to training over the break followed by full training.
“I’d still put him as a major doubt for the next week unless he’s trained exceptionally well over the past week.“

It is important for Ange Postecoglou and the doctors at Hotspur Way to ensure that the player is not rushed back into full fitness, as a relapse of such hamstring problems could end up having a major impact.
For now, it doesn’t look like Odobert will be available for Spurs when they line up against West Ham when the Premier League resumes this weekend, but it does look like a potential injury boost for the Lilywhites is not too far.
