Tottenham loanee Josh Keeley urged to work hard at Leyton Orient.

Tottenham Hotspur have been blessed with a plethora of talents coming through the academy at Hotspur Way, and the chiefs among the corridors at White Hart Lane are responsible for ensuring the development of each of the high-potential starlets who have an opportunity to represent the Lilywhites at the senior level.

While some are thriving at their level, others are struggling to make good of the hurdle in front of them, and Tottenham goalkeeper Josh Keeley belongs in the latter category at the moment as he finds minutes difficult to come by at Leyton Orient. And John Wenham, the owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, insists there is an ‘issue’ with the player at Leyton while urging the 21-year-old to work hard for his opportunities in EFL League One.

Loan move not going as planned for young goalkeeper Keeley

Josh Keeley is yet to play in the league for his temporary employers and has only accumulated one appearance where he started against Brentford in the Carabao Cup 3-1 defeat against Premier League side Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Wenham speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News provides fresh insights into the lack of playing time. He said:

“Keeley’s first Leyton Orient game was away at Brentford, which is quite a challenge. However, I thought he did well. He couldn’t have done anything about the goals he conceded and cemented himself well in the second half.

“As a result, the fans seemed happy. However, the issue for him is that EFL rules mean clubs can only have a certain amount of loan players in a matchday squad. Therefore, he just needs to keep working hard and if the opportunity does arise, I’m sure he will establish himself because he is a talented goalkeeper.”

Josh also has a compatriot at Leyton in Jamie Donley, who is also struggling with his own battle. And while the EFL League One are a fantastic club to gain opportunities, however, Spurs will have to reconsider their options if the minutes don’t come their way in the next month or so.

Do you think Tottenham should stick with keeping Josh Keeley at Leyton and ask him to fight out for minutes? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
