Tottenham’s mixed results on the pitch are being followed up by injured players on the bench.
Spurs are going to need all their players in the coming months, especially since after next month’s pause there will not be an international break until March and the FA Cup will be thrown into the mix right after the infamously hectic Christmas schedule.
However, the Lilywhites have received a sliver of positive update regarding one of their injured players.
Tottenham receive positive Lucas Bergvall injury update
As reported by Swedish outlet FotbollDirekt, the premature return of Lucas Bergvall to Tottenham from international duty was more of a precautionary measure and the player is not expected to be sidelined for long.
A calf strain saw the 18-year-old return to London earlier in the week. He is expected to return to action during his side’s next UEFA Europa League fixture, which will come about next midweek against AZ Alkmaar of the Eredivisie.
Bergvall has made eight appearances this season across all competitions, having delivered an assist in that time.
Spurs face West Ham at home in the Premier League as club football returns this weekend.
All hands on deck
Spurs already have a burgeoning injury situation on their hands, which is only going to get worse given the way they play under Ange Postecoglou combined with the congested calendar.
So it becomes even more important for the team to have most of their first team players available as much as possible, especially to prolong the Australian gaffer’s stay in North London.
It is equally important, however, that they don’t rush their players back.
