Tottenham have sent scouts to watch Lille starlet Hakon Arnar Haraldsson in action this season
Tottenham Hotspur have adopted a different transfer strategy recently, which has seen Daniel Levy bring home some highly-rated young talents.
The North Londoners are keen to nurture them and help them realise their full potential at the Hotspur Way. Under the tutelage of Ange Postecoglou, the club has invested big bucks to acquire some of the world’s prodigious talents. The Greek-Australian tactician wants Spurs to play a proactive, aggressive brand of football, and to employ such a style of play and challenge for major honours, he must trim down the squad’s age.
According to a report from FootballTransfers, Tottenham have been keeping tabs on LOSC Lille midfielder Hakon Arnar Haraldsson. On Big Ange’s request, the Lilywhites have sent scouts to watch the young Icelander in Ligue 1 this season. However, they could face competition for the player’s pursuit as Crystal Palace have also scouted him.
Hakon Arnar Haraldsson moved to LOSC Lille from Copenhagen in the summer of 2023. He enjoyed a strong debut campaign with Les Dogues, registering five goals and six assists in 38 appearances across all competitions. The youngster has quickly broken into the Iceland senior side, scoring three goals in 19 outings thus far.

The creative midfielder had started the 2024/25 season well before suffering a broken foot last month. The 21-year-old is now expected to return at the start of December (Transfermarkt).
Haraldsson, who has drawn early comparisons with France World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann due to their similar stature and technical ability, is viewed as a potential replacement for key players at White Hart Lane. The aforementioned report adds that Spurs could see the Lille starlet as a successor to skipper Son Heung-min, who is 32 and his contract is up at the end of June 2025 (Transfermarkt).
Haraldsson was gradually making a name for himself in Ligue 1 before suffering an injury setback in September. He is intelligent, creative and technically strong with an eye for goal. The Arkanes-born talent will now be aiming to come back strongly from injury and make an immediate impact for his club in December.

For now, Spurs must wait for the Iceland international to recover from a broken foot. A player’s performances are generally inconsistent after returning from a long-term injury, but if Haraldsson does well and shines for Lille, we could consider making a January move to beef up our squad.
