Tottenham Hotspur skipper Heung Min Son has been dealing with injury concerns off late, and he hasn’t featured for the Lilywhites since he picked up his injury in the North Londoners Europa League fixture against Qarabag. And Spurs did feel his absence against Brighton, where the Seagulls got back from 2-0 down to win the game on a 3-2 score line in the second half. Having a veteran presence in such situations can make massive difference. 

What was expected to be just a niggle turned into quite a problem as the 32-year-old was forced to miss out on representing his nation in October’s international break as he continued his rehabilitation at Hotspur Way. 

Son could start against West Ham

With Premier League duties set to resume in the upcoming weekend, the player is expected to face a late fitness test to ascertain his availability for the Lilywhites game against West Ham. While Dr. Rajpal Brar expressed his hesitation over Son starting, John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, insists that the former Bayer Leverkusen star should be in the starting eleven this weekend when the Hammers visit North London.

He insists that having Son back will be a “massive boost” for the Lilywhites.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:

“I think Son was actually pretty close to playing against Brighton. As I previously mentioned, I imagine Spurs did a deal with South Korea which meant if he was left out of the Brighton game, he wouldn’t be called up by South Korea. Instead of all that travelling, he was able to remain at Hotspur Way and rebuild his fitness. Therefore, I expect him to be fully ready and start against West Ham. That will be a massive boost because his record against them is really good.”

Postecoglou will be looking to get back to winning ways, as any other result means pressure will start to mount once again on him and his players. Knowing how important Son is to the North Londoners, the Greek-born coach would want him fit for the fixture.
